Oilserv Begins Offshore Pipeline Installation for NLNG Gas Transmission Expansion

Oilserv Limited has commenced offshore pipeline installation for the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Gas Transmission System (GTS-1) Expansion Project, marking an important milestone in Nigeria's drive to strengthen its natural gas transportation infrastructure and support increased liquefied natural gas (LNG) production. The development represents one of the latest advances in the country's ongoing investment in gas transmission networks, which are expected to play a critical role in meeting domestic energy demand while expanding export capacity. According to Oilserv's Managing Director, Dr. Kenechukwu Nwangwu, offshore construction activities are now underway, with the company installing approximately six kilometres of pipeline across shallow waters using specialised marine equipment and construction barges. Thousands of pipeline joints have already been transported from Port Harcourt to Bonny Island, where welding, laying, testing, and tie-in operations are progressing as part of the installation programme. The GTS-1 Expansion Project is designed to enhance the transportation of natural gas from upstream production facilities to the Nigeria LNG plant on Bonny Island. As NLNG prepares for increased production capacity through its Train 7 expansion project, reliable gas transmission infrastructure will become even more critical to ensuring a steady and uninterrupted supply of feed gas.
